EPIC Testimonials

Wonderful words from our EPIC supporters.

Thank you for taking the time to share your EPIC experience.

Gratitude

"EPIC helped my family at a very difficult time, listening and remote support workshops are very helpful for working families"

"Thank you so much for your commitment to providing safe spaces for parents and young people to learn more about the real struggles we face. Your support fills a gap in the community that makes a real impact. I benefit from it and I often refer your services and events to people I meet. The support you offer is needed (plus more!) and the value of these preventative kinds of programs you provide is priceless!"

"The newsletters and your website are an excellent resource and provide a terrific snapshot of relevant events and information. They are great to forward to parents who aren't sure where to access support. "

"Awareness of EPIC is increasing, this in itself is a bonus for parents, carers etc who are currently unaware. Continue raising awareness. "

“We were so happy when we realised the EPIC website has translation in Korean. Thank you. My wife is Korean we both felt relieved and supported. We look forward to joining you in the EPIC Parent Program.”

Testimonials from the Youth Mental Health First Aid in West Ryde, 10 November, 2024

If you can only do one course this year, I recommend this one. It is packed full, and also connecting and caring, supportive and encouraging. You will leave feeling more capable and empowered.

I wish I had stumbled across help like epic 4 years ago when my journey began.

Thankyou EPIC for providing the opportunity to attend this course and meet other parents facing similar challenges. It helped me to feel less alone. I encourage all parents and teachers to attend this course.

I honestly learned so much from this course. Both the online component and the in-person meeting provided most valuable skills for me to support my young person. I only wished I had done this course much earlier, because we could have avoided many ED visits and catastrophes at home. I’m very grateful that EPIC and the Ryde Council give me this opportunity to learn and grow. Anyone who works or helps with children should do this course.

The YMHFA training was terrific, powerful, moving, sensible, compassionate, useful and more. Thank you, EPIC!

“An invaluable addition to my mental health support-kit.”

“With mounting mental health medical fees for our young person, I would not have considered undertaking this course if EPIC had not offered it as a funded resource.”

“I’m so thankful for the practical and supportive Youth Mental Health First Aid training that EPIC provided. The St Ives Youth Hub space was cozy, professional and I was pleased to learn about other council programs during the trainin

“I just wanted to follow up and say Thank you. Thank you for arranging the course, the catering and being so incredibly supportive. The course was so interesting and I can see how it will be helpful in everyday application.  “

About the Meetings

"Dear EPIC crew, I am a raving fan of your work and the courage and generosity each of you bring to it. Stumbling upon EPIC has been a gift from heaven-above and I am full of gratitude for what you already are and for the way you already do it.”

"Warm and welcoming. Personal conversations and instantaneous connections. Genuine empathy. Generous, non-judgmental support. Respect for privacy and confidentiality. Big warm "you're not alone" hugs :-) Encouraging and affirming experience (overall)"

About the School Refusal Meeting

"The meeting was informal and cosy. My first experience with Madeleine was fantastic. I feel confident, good & supported. I couldn't make it face to face due to work commitments & requested Zoom information, so I emailed my concerns and I received details straight away. I am very appreciative of this & was able to attend & learn to educate myself."

"I just wish I had some support and info like this 4 years ago when my son’s issues started it was great to attend and listen. Most of the info I had already learnt but it just cemented a lot of what we are doing. Hopefully we can take the stigma out of school can’t and have more support for teens and parents just starting out on this tough journey. Thankyou "

"The meeting was very informative and clearly so important. My child has shown occasional mild symptoms of anxiety about school so the information gave me a good understanding / warning of how things could escalate for us at this stage. thankyou"

"It was such a good night, and so helpful for us community service reps to be there to connect with parents and each other.”

"All the presenters were very well knowledge. The panel session is the best where Q&A opportunity really provide very good information to us parents. "

"A lovely night, so well organised and well done. Thanks again!"

“A referral to a support group was a turning point. Up to this point, I’d lived a very isolated and isolating experience, but walking into that room where I saw and heard other parents who didn’t seem too different from me recount their own stories of pain and despair felt liberating. I wasn’t alone, and I wasn’t ashamed. I finally felt I could share without being judged. There, I also learnt of some triumphs…there were parents talking about coming through the other side. A notion I couldn’t envisage until that fateful moment I walked into that room….the rest dare I say is history!” (Anonymous)
