The Male Perspective

Ok, so we hate to either assume gender difference, or generalise, but when it comes to parenting there seems to be some correlation between gender and approach.

Males, perhaps learnt from older generations and social norms, tend to be less inclined to talk about their concerns or feelings. Their response to bringing up children, particularly in stressful situations, is to focus on rules and consequences; if “this” then “that”. Now this may be appropriate, but each situation is unique, and even a dogmatic approach may benefit from reconsideration.– particularly if it does not work!

Whilst parents seem to benefit from group work, for whatever reason there are usually less males than females attending.

In order to provide an alternative to group discussion, Andy Carroll (Wende’s partner and the father of two boys now in their 20s) is able to provide one-on-one mentoring. Andy is a successful businessman who returned to uni to study Philosophy and Coaching Psychology. You can contact him through EPIC or Wende Jowsey’s website www.educationalhealing.com
